Psycho shower scene activity 

The task set was to create our own sound effects using things around the college or that the tutor had brought in. We had to try and recreate the sound from a psycho shower scene. The function of the cue-sheets we were given was to help prompt us on which sound effects to create and what order we should create them in.

Foley was created by Jack Foley as he developed many sound effects for the Hollywood films during 1914. Foley is basically reproducing the sounds that would be in the movie in order to make them stand out more and be chosen carefully. During our sound effects workshop, we created shower sounds, door slamming, screaming, humming, stabbing and much more. The equipment used in this workshop included a voice recorder, rice which we used to create a running shower noise, cabbage which we stabbed to make a stabbing noise, a door to make the door noise. These resources were brought in by the tutor.  We found the rice to be easy to work with at making shower noises however the cabbage was difficult because it sounded more like a punch than a stabbing noise.

Found content is when you take content that you have not created from online or from another person. There are many strict rules against it and many content iss now copyrighted by the person who has created it. However, there are many websites which offer copyright free music, sound effects and images. These websites I mainly use as I don't wish to use anyone else's content in my work. However sometimes making some music or taking an image is impossible which is why I use the uncopyrighted found content.

To edit our foley onto the silent scene we used adobe premiere pro. I found it quite simple to use and the effects were easy to find. Unfortunate we didn't get time to add effects or finish it but I know if we had time we would add many cool effects.  I did want to add an underwater effect to the rice shower noises so if we had time we would have done that.

I think our scene needs more effects and to be finished. So far it is great but with effects and finishing it off our scene could even be like the original one.
